Photocatalytic Methane Conversion over Pd/ZnO Photocatalysts under Mild Conditions

Here, Pd nanoparticles supported on ZnO were prepared by the alcohol-reduction and borohydride-reduction methods, their efficiency towards photocatalytic conversion of methane under mild conditions evaluated. The resulting Pd/ZnO photocatalysts characterized X-ray fluorescence, diffraction, photoelectron spectroscopy, UV–Vis, transmission electron microscopy. reactions performed with dispersed in water a bubbling stream UV-light illumination. products formed identified quantified gas chromatography (GC-FID/TCD/MSD). principal C2H6 CO2 minor quantities C2H4 CO. No H2 production was observed. preparation methods influenced size dispersion ZnO, affecting performance photocatalysts. best observed for photocatalyst borohydride reduction 0.5 wt% Pd, reaching rate 686 µmol·h−1·g−1 selectivity 46%.
